August monochromatic layout challenge

Post by pamcook »

August. Already? No, I never got around to the July challenge either.

My challenge for us this month is to either use the guidelines for the July challenge or -

Use black/grey (& white) and one other color.
Bonus points if you use a Black & White photo.

How’s that for easy? :tomato:

Finally got some Scrapbooking done tonight. My friend Lisa came over so I drug out some supplies and made a couple of pages.
I lifted this page from Pinterest and am really happy with it. Awarding myself bonus points for the b & w photo and honest to goodness machine stitching and heat embossing. I know!

Hasn't it worked out well! The turquoise patterned papers are the perfect accent for your black and white photo. Bonus Points Definitely!

Pam, what a wonderful page! My heat gun is sitting right behind me, so it's not like I have to go searching for it, but I never think of embossing on a scrapbook page. Will have to give it a go.
I do wish I had room to leave my sewing machine out. I would definitely use it more often.

That is gorgeous, Pam! A perfect photo to make black and white and not have detracting airport background in it. And, Wow, Miriam is so tall! It reminds me of so many greetings we've had at airports with our girl!

So many times I’ve wanted to sew on a page but too lazy to pull out my machine. Since I’ve decluttered so much, it’s more accessible. Same with heat embossing (and stamping if I’m honest about it). I’m really going to try to use more of my stamps. This week, I had two stamp sets in my cart at Altenew. I deleted the order thinking that I don’t use what I have enough to justify buying more. While sorting through my stamps - I found I already own both of those sets. Never used. So pitiful.
Jen McGuire has a recent tutorial on how to get better layering results. I plan to play with them more.

Wow, this is outstanding! Black and aqua is gorgeous. I think I need to make a card with those colors. Love the sequins.

So Pam, do I get extra points for not quite following your challenge too?

Loving your LO so much I made a card semi-following your challenge (black, silver and aqua) to add to my own card challenge...so a twofer for me, yes?
