Christmas Cards for Ocracoke - updated

Post by nchoney »

I'm going to be reaching out to lots of folks. Cheryl Miller put my brain in high gear this morning by offering to send me some Christmas cards for the folks in Ocracoke.

What I'd like to do is gather a big (ok.. huge) batch of Christmas cards to take down there so they have something to send out to family and friends.

So... if any of you are interested... I'm inviting you to make some Christmas cards and then send them to me, unsigned, with envelopes and I'll gather this bunch of cards and take down to Ocracoke sometime in November.

I'm sending emails to some other groups, too... so hopefully we'll get lots of people involved. :-)

Beautiful, thoughtful idea Debi. I’ll see what I can produce.

Oh gosh, it just occurred to me that I have a collection of previous years’ cards that I didn’t use. I’m always worried that if I use them I’d be sending the same card to the same person a few years ago, LOL. So they’ve just been collecting in a box somewhere. I’m going on a hunt today for them.

Figured I should post this pic here, too... I used most of the ingredients in a card kit Peggy had bought me... I liked the magazine and the stamps, etc. but I'm not usually one to just use a bunch of pre-printed things when I'm making cards... so this was a super use of all those printed diecuts! I used half the paper in the kit... cut each page into 4 card fronts... then used cardstock from an assortment pack from Tues. Morn. and assembly-lined 58 cards over the weekend. This is the batch that had liquid pearls or similar wet stuff on them.

What I have so far are ready to mail. I'll be making more as I continue to recuperate from this dratted flu or virus or whatever in heck it is.

Debi today I picked up several boxes of 40% off envelopes at Hobby Lobby, many of them for cards I’ll be sending you this week. Just need to find a box to ship them in. I am so happy to find a home for my unused holiday cards from years past.

Debi a question about the envelopes...do you want the cards already completely inside the envies? I’ve gone about halfway through stuffing when it occurred to me your recipients might want to see them first.

What would be best for you?
