February 2020 Technique Challenge: Colored Embossing Folders

Okay, so this isn’t a new technique but if your embossing folders are anything like mine, they are neglected. Why is that? Well I want to use my collection and liven them up. So my ideas here aren’t that new but some of my results aren’t all that bad.

Let’s make embossing folder backgrounds in as many ways as your imagination can dream up. Then we will turn them or parts of them into cards...or even a scrapbook element! Use your sprays, Gelatos, TH Distress Crayons, ink pads of all kinds, water colors on plain paper, colored paper, Kraft and metallics and see what you get. I think once I make a background I might die cut some of them.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:
1. The shiny red one was made with a TH 3D embossing folder on his metallic card stock. I simply swiped CP Midnight permanent ink over the raised areas, then heat set it. It ended up crackling the metallic...oops! But I like the results.
2. The grey background panel was created with a pearly coral Gelato...another item I haven’t used in ages.
3. Finally the black one is swiped with gold pigment ink.

I’m on a roll and will post some different techniques in a few days. Let’s see your ideas.
