A Stamp Question

I've gone a bit crazy with adding new stamps, and this is the first time I've had this issue. Maybe some of you who are better versed in this can help.

I purchased several Big and Bold stamps from Colorado Crafting and they don't give me a usable image. It's almost like they won't accept the ink, if that makes sense. I've tried Versa Fine, Ranger Archival and Staz On but nothing works. I've tried the Misti with one pad and both. I've tried several weights of paper, watercolor, sketch and plain copy paper, but nothing seems to work.

What in heck am I doing wrong?? They have great depth on the stamps, so I know that's not the issue.

I remember some stamps need a bit of roughing up the surface a bit.

Try cleaning them with soap and water. There may be a residue on them that needs removed before they will accept ink. And I'd also email the company to ask.

Try the emery board/very fine sandpaper, a white eraser, or even rubbing on your arm (before inking!). Sometimes baby wipes work. Usually Dawn dish soap works as well. Sounds exactly like there's a residue on the stamp.

Residue was my first thought so yesterday I washed them with Dawn. I had already cleaned them with my stamp shammy and thought that would be enough.

Did it work - Dawn?

Nope. Then I pulled out an ancient fingernail file. I'm still not getting good images. I even tried stamping it using the all in one. I'm going to try it with an oversized stamping block to see if that does it.

I contacted CCC yesterday afternoon about it but haven't heard back yet.

are they clear stamps or red rubber? try putting a mouse pad under the paper before stamping.

Clear stamps. I finally managed to get several good images. I had to put a ton of pressure on them to get it, but it worked. Now I'm building muscles along with making cards!

I had one stamp I had to stand on to get it to print correctly.

Well, it obviously is defective in some way. I hope they make it right and send you one that you'll enjoy using.
