One time for Secret Santa, Farley sent me the original collection of Peerless Watercolor Sheets. Thanks again, Farley, I have loved them! Over the years, I cut slices of the paint sheets and make a small palette to carry with me when we travel. This trip I also brought the rest of the booklet since I am using it up. Couldn't find them sold in OZ so yesterday I ordered from Peerless in Wisconsin to buy some replacement sheets. https://peerlesscolorlabs.com/

Marianne how great you’re “back in business”! I’m so happy that those watercolors have been so successful and enjoyable for you. Your “home” is gorgeous! And it’s just plain wonderful to hear from you and see your beautiful art again.

It does feel good to do something with paper and color. I've always wondered how people do this type of decorative painting and I also learned a lot about paint brushes working in such a small scale. I need another trip to the dollar store to get round brushes not the detailers/liners I thought would be good for this last week.

Pat, trust me, you can do this!

Pam C, the paint sheets seem a bit intimidating at first but once you cut off a piece from each sheet (these are about 3/4-1" wide) and make the little palette, you can put away the rest of the sheets in the folder and they don't get messed up. I just use some rigid plastic packaging as a mixing plate. Yesterday I tried cutting off about 1/8" strip, dipping it quickly in water and then smooshing one end on the plastic to get a little pool of color. The paper sheets are so concentrated with color that a little goes a long way when you are working small. I just let the paints dry on the plastic and wet them again the next day.

Kathryn, the next lesson is doing a cursive word/phrase and decorating it.

Week 2 was decorating the letters with the stars and doing fake calligraphy. I could not get my Uniball Signo pen to stay white which really would have helped tie the little white areas together.

It's beautiful Marianne! Yes the Signo will pick up other colors even if the underneath color is dry sometimes. But it still remains my preferred white gel pen.

Thanks, Farley. The instructor used the same pen so since I didn't have one (and it is usually my favorite white pen) that is what I bought. A bit disappointing it didn't work but it could have been the paper or the paints I used.
