Weekend projects??

Post by nchoney »

I'm still working on the scrap room. Cleaned out a lot of stuff from our unused bedroom last weekend and the week I was off from work. That gave me room to move some big things out of the scrap room. This weekend my goal is to organize stamps and dies.

First task took a couple hours this morning. I had all my unmounted red rubber stamps on pages in big binders on my shelving. One problem with that was that they were all hiding in the binders and I'd simply avoid having to pull them down and flip through to find stamps. Another bigger problem is that the stamps were taking up valuable storage space.

So I've taken them out of all the binders and they're in plastic containers I can just flip through. Much less wasted space. And I'll be storing them on my rolling book cart eventually and all those shelves will be available. I think I'll be putting dies up there. The thought is - it won't hurt the stamps if the house gets flooded. But it will hurt the dies. They wouldn't do well if they're in saltwater. Plus, there's some floor damage that we need to repair. Apparently the joist repair after Irene didn't hold up. So heavy stuff up on the wall and the lighter stamps can go on the cart on the floor.

And the “after” shots. All those blue boxes and the Stampin’ Up containers will go on my rolling book cart. And the empty scrapbooks on that top shelf will come down too. Photo containers may go up there.

And now I can get rid of these binders. They were free from work - folks were getting rid of old training materials and some of them are showing a bit of rust. So I don’t feel bad tossing them.

This is the rolling book cart. Bought from Amazon. Damaged box so it was only about $50 rather than $250. It's two-sided too.

Looks great, always good to get organized, I just found out my Dream Scrap Box is delayed to the middle of October. That’s crazy. My kids ordered that on July 6Th. 4-6 weeks has turned into 3 months.

This is all the ambition I’ve had so far and Vicki Boutin made it pretty easy!

Your organizing your craft room is paying off! Love that library book cart. Terrific idea! I hope all your work is just for you and not for any flooding. Keeping my best thoughts Debi.

Today I saw my step-daughter, son-in-law and grandkids for the first time since Bob's passing and the nearly immediate March quarantine! I've been really keeping my distance from a good part of the world for the last 6 months doing my best for this old girl to stay healthy. But enough...I met them at Folsom Lake for a nice day outdoors, masked and being socially responsible. We had a great time. Plus we started out with clear, healthy air until mid afternoon when the wind shifted and picked up bring smoke over the lake. Time to leave. We'll do it again and not wait 6 months.

I got a boat load of new stamps and dies from Catherine Pooler and Rubbernecker. A little organizing is in order and I also hope to spend time on Halloween cards.

No new flooding, thankfully. Just trying to find some order in this mess. Every time there's a threat of a storm, I put things up out of harm's way. I've done that so many times now, that I can't find anything. So this is the big clean-up and purge project.

Great job, Debi AND Debbie!

I was going to work on my Halloween cards but discovered the packaging for a die set I ordered was damaged (cut through by the dies) and a piece was missing...had to exchange it but the discovery took the wind out of my sails.

Moving onto my Scraplift Challenge page today & maybe a metal fall sign with a vinyl design if I’m really motivated. Likely though, Grumpy will need my help limbing a holly tree we felled to make room for my garden shed (aka my Bitch Barn).

Farley, we had a very similar (distanced/masked) back yard cookout for my birthday two weeks ago. My youngest son asked what I would like and with with tears in my eyes, I told him all I wanted was to see my kids. They’re balm for a mom’s/Grammy’s soul!

Debi - I’m more than a bit impressed with your progress! Flipping works best for me and I hope it works as well well for you. Being able to quickly look through my supplies inspires me.

Debbie - cute layout! How disappointing about your Dream Box. Are they giving you a reason for such excessive delays?

I hope everyone has a great Sunday. We’re expecting another beautiful autumn-y day. I need to put this phone down and get dressed. Mandee & I did a major reorganization of my kitchen and dining room. Hope to clear out the dining room table to make room for a freezer and shelves. Our dining room has always been wasted space. Even when the kids are home, we gather at the kitchen island or in the family room for meals. I found a small desk for Kenan’s school work and we’ll fit that in a corner for him.
We’re all hoping and praying that NZ relaxes their travel guidelines so Cara & family can visit at Christmas. As it is now, they would have to apply to return to NZ and then stay in government quarantine for two weeks (imagine that with a 3 year old!).
