Since it's been a while for some of us.... just wanted to send some info about what happens if you're trying to change your login information - whether it's the login name or your password.
Julie still gets those emails. We get quite a few of them from bogus people, so those server-generated requests just filter into a folder in her email. Any REAL changes require an email to her at admin@paperartistsonline.com Those emails get her attention and then she goes into the folder of site requests and clicks on a link to approve the request. Super easy at her end... and something that she still wants to do, apparently.
Also - just a reminder - I'm still an 8:30 to 5:30 working gal.... I start driving to work at 7:30 and I don't get home til after 6:15 ... so, unless it's a super slow day in IT land, I'm busy til after 6:15. I try hard not to answer my phone while I'm driving.
Just wanted to be sure you all knew how the user profile side of things was still working.

I'm astounded at the number of bogus requests that come in every day. I think last count I bothered to take was slightly over 30 - it's ridiculous. I'm glad Julie is still looking at them, but that has to be time consuming. Some are obviously not real, but my question is do we have anything in place to weed them out before they go any further? I was thinking along the lines of something like Captcha (or however it's spelled). Would that be a ridiculous fee for usage?

I'm not sure how that would get added to the site... but... she just sets a rule on those incoming emails... they dump into a folder. She only looks into the folder if she receives an actual email to the admin address. Then she looks in the email folder for their username they've picked and there's a link in the email for her to click on to approve it. Easy peasy.

We have several moderators who do a lot of background work - Monica is one of them. She consolidates all of the cyber crop and Camp PAO Wow challenges into one topic and is also the camp leader when we have one. I think at one time or another we've all pretty much taken an active role. Debi stepped up when Beth Richards left us to act as a site administrator since IT is what she does. There are several of us who have IT experience but not with this particular program. The biggies are what Debi takes care of - updates and upgrades, working with the host when there's issues, etc. That's really where the nuts and bolts are to keeping us running and God bless her for stepping up!
