December 2020 (5 items challenge)

Post by pamcook »

For this month’s challenge, you must include:

The word “currently” in your title,
A cut file or die cuts,
Washi tape,
Black,
And, circles.

If the page is about you, you may skip one of the items.

Have fun!

I need to print some pictures, I am still considering buying one of those printers that prints 4x6 and 5x7. For now it’s Costco. I have the picture I want to use.

I love my Epson PictureMate (PM400). The prints are fabulous; if I use a photo lab it's because of quantity (upwards of 100 prints at once), not quality. Even though I own a full-size photo printer, I couldn't imagine not having this as my primary photo printer.

Keitha, how does the ink hold up with this printer?

I have that Epson printer too. There are some super easy apps for the phone so I can print a multitude of options on either 4x6 or 5x7 paper. I think the ink last for 100 prints. Maybe more. I like to be able to easily print from the phone over my WiFi. You can print from a card using the printer options but there are more options in the collage software.

I bought a used Canon Pixsma a few years ago and love it. Having the ability to print at home Is the best.
I hear rave reviews about the one Keitha mentioned.

Pat, they sell packs that include the ink cartridge - it's a single cartridge with all inks - and 100 sheets of 4x6 photo paper together. I usually buy them, and never run out of ink before I get my 100 prints. Depending on the price you find, you can calculate your price per print. In addition, I keep 5x7 paper on hand - and even printing some photos in that size plus the occasional TN-sized photo find the ink lasts. I don't change the ink out until the machine asks me to - I've always got photo paper even if I run out of the 4x6 size. Sometimes it's months between printing sessions if I've been working, but so far haven't had a problem with the cartridges clogging or drying out. I would caution that as with all Epson printers you get best results with Epson paper.

Keitha. The reason I asked about ink usage was due to the fact I had an Epson photo printer like the one you are describing, many years ago. It never printed the amount of pictures it was supposed to. Got fed up with the thing. Now I print some on our HP printer or use Shutterfly, or something similar.

I've had 2 PhotoMate printers and loved them both. The only issue I had with the first one was that it didn't print a decent purple and the printer head needed to be cleaned regularly, which used ink. When that one died I got the PM400 which I absolutely 100% love. Great color, no clogging or cleaning required. I print 5 x 7 and 4 x 6 with it, and sometimes do a reprint if I see something in the photo that I want to change. Under those circumstances it's hard to say how many prints I get out of one cartridge. I do know that I've had to purchase additional paper packs before, so I may actually be getting more than usual. And of course the amount of photos you print depends on the size of the photos you're printing. If I print one 3 x 5 it doesn't use as much ink as a 5 x 7.
