Cards for Kindness?

Have any of you ever sent a load of cards to Cards for Kindness? I enjoy making cards - especially as a way of using up scraps, but I never send them. I'm thinking of packing up a bunch of them and sending them out. I've read the guidelines, but would hate to have a bunch thrown out. Have any of you send cards to them and found out that they rejected some of what you sent? What I'm most curious about are cards of odd sizes, and cards with those clear envelopes that came with a lot of the Club Stamp kits. The guidelines say they'll take any card size as long as it has an envelope, but I have to wonder about those clear envelopes, as well as some of those super small sized cards.

If anyone has sent cards there, did you have anything rejected (that you're aware of)? If they're that flexible about what they accept, then I'm probably going to make an effort to send most of what I currently have stored, and then make up a lot of those Club Stamp kits I've had since like 2010.

Scrapbook.com takes greeting cards also. I don’t know what the criteria is but I get emails all the time about donating cards.

Scrapbook.com is who's doing the Cards for Kindness.

I don't know about the little cards. Not sure they're a mailing size. I'm going to be sending them a box sometime soon. Need to get rid of some of the ones I made for the craft fair a couple years ago. They're all A2 cards.

Julie sometime this spring I packed up 60 A2 sized cards of assorted themes with basic white envelopes for that group with the form fully filled out and followed the guidelines to the letter. I never heard a thing from them. Not even an email saying thanks. Hopefully they found a use for them. I certainly have more I could send but I kind of feel like I sent them into a black hole.

Perhaps with the stress of covid they just don’t have the staff or time to handle cards as well as notification to the donators.

Check with your local nursing home, they may
have a use for cards for their patients to send
to family members

Just looked at the info on the scrapbook.com site....

"We have been overwhelmed with the response we have received from Cards for Kindness. We will send you an email when we have processed your donation. Keep in mind, because of the overwhelming response we have received, this process may take weeks. The email will be sent to the email address that was listed on your submission form."

That would lead me to think that they don't need more big boxes of cards right now.

Here are some other organizations that accept card donations:

https://sendasmiletoday.org/get-involved/

https://www.citymeals.org/get-involved/greeting-cards <-- this would be a good idea for your own local Meals on Wheels program, too

http://www.cardsforhospitalizedkids.com/

http://cardcareconnection.com/

That's just some to get you started.... :)

Thanks for the responses all. If they're so overwhelmed by the responses, then I wish they'd quit running their facebook ads so aggressively. Though I guess I could say that for most things I see FB ads for (not sure if I even have friends who post things anymore - over half of my feed is advertising).

I'll check out some of the other locations you suggested Debi. I'd prefer to find somewhere that accepts all of the card sizes I have - not just the A2 s. I think that A2 is the least of what I have.

Winner winner! I haven't packed up my cards yet - got distracted and moved on to something else. But this one looks promising! Thank you!

I emailed them to get the address since it's not on the website. Of if it is I couldn't find it.

Thank you Pam. I still haven't gotten anything boxed yet - I'd only bookmarked the site to make sure I had it for later. I've got this on a post-it note in my card stash now. :-)

I just filled 2 flat rate boxes with cards for Cards For Soldiers. 182! Could have kept going but honestly, my house is filthy and I need to do something else.

In the note that I put in one of the boxes, I expressed my appreciation to them for their initiative, and gave credit for all artwork to the talented members of Paper Artists Online. There was no way I could take credit for all of that great work. You guys are "da bomb!" :happy94:

I've still got that address on a post-it note right in front of my face reminding me that I need to box up those cards. February was like one big 4 week distraction. I don't know where it went!

Good for you though Pam - I need to get on the ball and get those cards sorted and out of the house.
