This month choose the sketch and/or the mood board to inspire your creation. As always, make scrapbook pages or cards. (Bonus points if you make a scrapbook page.) I don’t know why I can’t get these images to post after my comments but you get it.

My brain and mood boards are on the opposite sides of the planet. I can totally see how your sketch is inspired by that mood board, but I look at just the mood board, and don't process much beyond randomness. I think we all know me well enough now to know that my brain seeks structure and order. But the sketch is something I can make sense of, for sure. If I can find a single photo of something, I'll give it a shot. Single photo sketches are something I struggle with quite a bit, mostly because if I have one photo of something, I've got 12. But that's what will make it a good challenge for me to try.

I adore your layout that resulted from the moodboard and sketch! Those colors are just wonderful.

Julie, like you I tend to take sketches fairly literally. But I will remind you that you can alter it; in this case 2 or even 3 photos with a strong, horizontal line and/or a couple of layers behind them would resemble it. Alternatively, you could turn it into a 2-page layout; either mirroring both sides, or keeping the sketch on one side and filling the other with photos. Just wanted to offer suggestions as I know, like me, you're prone to put more than one photo on a page.
As for the mood board, I'll confess I love them but often find it a challenge picking inspiration from them. In my head I know I can just take elements like a colour/palette, or specific element like the star banner, or even an icon: here I see at a glance a giraffe, books and blue hearts. However my Muse always balks at translating what I see into a page.

This mood board worked perfectly for a card I had planned to make for my neighbor/friend who is an AVID reader. Her birthday is next month.

Sue! That’s wonderful!

All you folks who haven’t tried using a mood board, just make a list of things that attract your attention. Bees, black, white, and yellow. And run with it. My eye is always attracted first to the color combinations.

Still don’t want to use it? Use the sketch. Yes, add as many photos as you want. Neither the mood board nor the sketch have to be taken literally.

Thanks for the comments about my layout. I’m enjoying reliving 2014 this month!

Pam, have you looked at the new collection Buenos Dias by Obed Marshall? This mood board puts me in the mind of that.

I have seen that collection and you're so right! The colors remind me of some of Liz Kartchner's collections. (BTW, did you know AC gave her the boot? FIrst Shimelle, then One Canoe Two, now Dear Lizzy... I wonder who else will fall by the wayside?)

I really wanted to love this LO, but I'm still not happy with it. Many many pieces of paper are now in file X so I just said to heck with the watercolor.

Drat. Just realized I forgot to ink the edges.

Pam P - very cute photo and fun layout! I like your splatter.

Pam C - I didn't know AC had ended those relationships. It does make you wonder.

Awww... too cute, Pam P!!

I hadn't heard they dropped 1Canoe2. That's really sad, given I loved all their lines. I hope someone else picks them up!

Pam, what don’t you like about it? I think it’s adorable.

I know some collections are still available to print from the AC website but they’re older collections. Like Monica, I hope they find someone to print and sell their creations.
