prayers appreciated

Post by pamcook »

So many of us have had so much to deal with over the past few months. From the effects of self-isolation to surgery - it's been a lot!

Just to update you all on us - Joel has been out of work since January. Long story short - his back has had all it can take. He's now on disability until they can transition him to retirement (over a year out). He's gone from stumbling and several near-falls, walking with a cane to walking without a cane for about 10 minutes without extreme fatigue and pain. He's learning to adapt everything he does to protect himself from further injury.

Last month, we made a last minute trip (as in, we got the call and were on the road within 90 minutes) to Ohio to see his mom one last time. She rallied - again - and ended up back at her assisted living facility. Over the past two weeks, she's stopped eating and taking only sips of water a day. Another hospital stay, now in a nursing home as of 2 days ago but Hospice is meeting with his siblings later today.

We would really appreciate your prayers. Living over 400 miles away is harder than being there.

Thanks All. You mean the world to me.

Hospice met with the siblings, saw Mom and she moved to Hospice in less than 4 hours. I hope they can all get some sleep tonight knowing she’s in capable, caring hands.

Just wanted to let you all know that Joel’s mom passed away peacefully yesterday. Joel is thankful she’s at peace.
