SS Flipbook - Yosemite

Post by Keitha »

Simple Stories' Great Escape collection from a few years ago was right up my alley and I've had the Flipbook class kit languishing in my stash for awhile. These types of projects are great for working on away from home, but if you can't add the photos as you go, you can only progress so far with the assembly. I decided this album would be for photos from a day trip to Yosemite when I was in CA for Scramp Camp some years ago, and although I didn't think I wanted to edit photos away from home have worked out a pretty good system. This is my first time working with a Flipbook, and I quite like not having the gap you get from ring albums. It's an interactive album with pockets, tags, flip-ups and tip-ins; the plastic pocket pages add to the difficulty in photographing it.
These are not all the pages, but you get the idea. I will add some journaling, which I've decided to print on clear sticker paper and adhere where I have places for it. I'm most chuffed to have completely done this, from editing and printing photos to album assembly, in just a week - although will cop to not being busy at work so printed the photos there.

A flip-up page - the monument is a tribute to a firefighter who died in the Tuolumne Fire. We visited shortly after the Rim Fire in 2013; in fact, firefighters were still there, and we passed a few small fires burning along the side of the road leading into the park.

A fold-out page. Lots of smoke still in the air.

A few more pages, including the sequoias in Mariposa Grove. I did get some photos of the iconic Tunnel View featuring El Capitan and Half Dome, although haven't previewed that page here. But I'm sure you all know what it looks like!

Wow, that turned out really well! I'm impressed you did it all in a week, it looks complicated.

This is beautiful, Keitha. The flip book looks like the ideal format to celebrate a day in the wild.

This is a fabulous book, Keitha. I haven't made any type of mini book in years. Guess I need to take a trip, so I have a reason to make one.
