February 2009 Monthly Scrapbooking Challenge
February 2009 Monthly Scrapbooking Challenge
This month's challenge was inspired by 3 brave scrappers who dared to break out of their comfort zones last month:
Pamjoyeng http://www.paperartistsonline.com/forum ... 609#p24609,
GwenJ http://www.paperartistsonline.com/forum ... 481#p24481
and
DonnaMadsen http://www.paperartistsonline.com/forum ... 094#p28094
Have a look at what they did to stretch their creative muscles.
Now it’s your turn: whatever your normal style of scrapping is, try something outside of your comfort zone at least once this month. If your layouts are always lined up and measured precisely, do a collage style. If you always stick to the same manufacturers’ papers on a layout, mix it up with 2 or more different lines of paper together. If you only use solid cardstock, use prints instead. Or break out and try digital. If your idea of embellishing is one tiny accent in the corner, load that layout up with product like you see in the magazines.
And, if that weren’t enough: since this is the month of Valentine’s Day, please, use a heart somewhere on your layout. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a consumable like a sticker, brad or eyelet. It could be hand doodled, stamped, cut out of paper, a huge focal point or a tiny accent, anything.
And, third, the tool of the month is to use your heat gun. You can either do wet embossing with powders or use the gun for some other creative use. If you don’t have a heat gun, use paper or another item that has a similar raised embossed look.
Good luck! Challenge ends at midnight, February 28th. Please, post your layouts here!

And now that DD and DH brought me some supplies, I can play along, too. I'm looking forward to doing multiple patterned papers together and lots of product!!! You know, one of those layouts you see in magazines where you have to search for the photo??

Ok - this is WAY outside of my comfort zone. The heart is on the journaling block - turned upside down and digitally embossed. The quote is from Robert Frost's Stopping By the Woods On a Snowy Evening.
C'mon ya'll - if I can come out of my comfort zone I know that those of you with more imagination can!

That's quite the challenge, Marianne! I'll have to see what I can come up with!
Terrific layout, Pam! That is definitely frame-worthy art!

Now I'm def challenging all of you. I made this LO just as sappy and obnoxious as I could - which is so far outside of my comfort zone that I don't even want to talk about it.
"Love" is digitally embossed. Marianne - you made the embossing part hard if we're going digi!
