So I'm reading a promo flyer send to food industry professionals, and I find this little blurb:
"Turn over a new Leaf, Keep Customers Engaged with Sinple, Seasonal Promotions." Then they show a bowl of soup, that looks great, so I read on, to see if there is a recipe, but instead find this:
"May 10- Mother's Day, the Biggest Restaurant Day of the Year. Cash in on everybody's favorite person."
Cash in? Cash in? F-U! from this moment on, I will never buy Dole pineapple, and let everyone I know their stance that mom's shouldn't be celebrated but used.
Don't buy Dole Proudcts!

If no one was trying to make
money, there would be no cards
in the stores, or florists making
deliveries, or restaurants even
serving specials that day etc. etc.

I'm all for folks making a profit. Companies that make profits have employees with jobs. I am going to keep buying Dole products.

You got it right. Companies are in business to make profits for their owners, whether stockholders or privately held. I had a boss that used to give us the "why we are here" lecture at the drop of a hat. But I wouldn't want to bore you with that 45 minute dissertation!pamcook wrote:Are they any different from any other corporation? I doubt it.

I think they could have worded their flyer better, but I agree, profit is the engine that drives capitalism.
So settle down, Beavis.
