Question about Cuttlebug Embossing Folders
Question about Cuttlebug Embossing Folders
I've been using my Cuttlebug quite a bit for backgrounds. I know that several of you do use these embossing folders. How do most of you manage to add color to individual parts....as in the ones that have flowers and stems, the tall reeds with the bird, etc.....even the ones with all the Happy Birthdays and other "wordy" ones..........
Thanks

Re: Question about Cuttlebug Embossing Folders
Diana there are several ways to do it. Easiest is to use direct to paper - just lightly rub your ink pad over the design. You can also use a sponge. I know that some people put ink right on the folder - you have to clean it immediately after you get your impression. I have NEVER done that one.

I second the direct to paper technique. Thats how I do it.
Re: Question about Cuttlebug Embossing Folders
I always put ink on my folders. It wipes/washes right off. I'm lazy-just think its easier to swipe the ink pad onto the folder
Re: Question about Cuttlebug Embossing Folders
I've done both, ink to folder but only one color, but
I'm sure with a steady hand you could do multi colors
I really like the effect of chalk and a cotton ball on some of
the backgrounds and I've also done ink on a stylus or makeup
sponge lightly brushed across the raised ridges which gives
a darker color than the chalks

Thanks......I'm maybe a little to "Heavy handed".......get it in places i don't want it....for instance....the one that has the vines with the flowers......I want the back plain and color on the vines and the flowers........it goes everywhere.....
I haven't tried chalks yet either......maybe I just need to use a soft rag to wipe off the access......
Thanks

A white/art eraser will work to remove excess

Re: Question about Cuttlebug Embossing Folders
if you leave your paper in the folder when you go to add the ink, chalk etc. it helps support it and the color stays on the raised part a little better.

very nice idea!! I will try that
Re: Question about Cuttlebug Embossing Folders
I've done both, but must admit I generally only use one ink or chalk colour. I just like the way it looks, rather than trying to colour each thing.
