another use for alcohol ink

Post by ChristyB »

have a bunch of adhesive crystals or pearls lying around. Customize them to your layout by coloring them with alcohol ink.

the example I did here was with plain crystal bling that I colored with cranberry ink.
and the center of the flowers were plain pearl also colored.

good idea! You can color them with Copic markers too - I only buy plain white pearls now that I've learned these tricks!

just tried it

they do, but don't dry instantly so you need to wait a few minutes

Very nice to know. I have about a million green brads for some reason. Now I have any color I want!

Great idea. There was one time that I really stressed over getting the right color on some brads. This would have been a perfect solution. Thanks for the tip.

Christy that turned out really nice! Did you do it with the AI markers that came in the Swirlydoos tech kit last month? I tried it - I had mixed results with the crystals, but I thought they worked really well with pearls.

I did
My coverage was not perfect- but it was more of accidentally intended that way.

Now on the other hand-filling that stupid pen was a god awful mess. I had AI all over the place. (course it could have been operator error but I'm denying that :embarassed: )

I'm not sold on them yet. I did just read an article though about using them in art journals over acrylic paint. I might have to try that next. Also the fact that once you put a color in that's it. You can't rinse it out and use it for another. We'll see

I'm glad they sent us two pens, but I too am not sold on them yet. It would be one of those 50% coupon things, if I ever got more. I also made a terrible mess. I filled it from both ends with different colors (uh, oops), and I got stuff everywhere. And one end was pink and one more reddish, so I wound up with bloody looking fingers when it was all done.

I now have about 40 different AIs, and given that those pens are only good for one color, I have no idea which color I should put in there. And given the mess, I'd probably do just as well loading up a q-tip and using that instead of a pen nib.
