Configurations Boxes

Post by mpizzazz »

Has anyone here done anything with Tim's new Configurations boxes? I was rak'ed one on the All Things Tim group and am looking for ideas. It must be the small one-5.5 x 5.5" so the 5 boxes are VERY small.

I have the small one too, but haven't done anything either. I think he has ideas on his website, just haven't had the time yet!

Lots of people on the All Things Tim group have done them. Lots just follow Tim's lead with generic vintage stuff. I like the ones that are more personal but these boxes are so small. The only thing I can think of is I have a lot of little tiny animals from when I was a child but they already have a home on a little Christmas tree. I'm not taking that apart to do this.

My other thought is shells and an ocean theme.

Do you have any of your moms favorite jewelry pieces? I used to collect watches, and have a ton of them. I could do one with my old watches. Or old campaign buttons, or just old buttons, or dh cufflinks, I think that I am on a jewelry kick, huh? I am just trying to picture what I have that I would put in. How about old match books? My parents saved those from all over the US. Any collections that you might have?

Thimbles maybe? Small decorated bottles, keys, anything small that you might have a collection.

Huummm....I will have to think about any little collections I might have. The boxes are just so tiny. I'm almost tempted to decorate it and lay it flat and keep stuff in it more for storage on my table than for display standing up.

When we were in Mesa, Az, I went to an antique mall and got some minature things to put in the one I am making for my granddaughter. I got a tiny crystal basket, set of dice, tiny sports car, cup and saucer, thimble, the Cheshire cat, and a vase. They were all so cute and will be perfect in the configuration box.

I've got a couple different sizes of the Configurations but haven't done anything with them as of yet. I love tiny things, so I've got quite stash aaround the house.... however, I plan on doing the typesetter's drawer I have first. Jueli is right about that gal's incredible ideas with the configurations!! I may try one of those when I get around to doing something with them.

I have one too, and like you want to make it more personal than the generic Tim's vintage stuff. Not that I have anything against them but if I make it I'd like a bit more meaning.
So mine sits until I am inspired.

You can always take a box or 2 out to make more space and use the boxes for something else later. No one says that all boxes must be used

I have one to work on too. I bought it from HSN when Tim was on the other day!

Mine is the rectangle shape and it came with knobs, feet and tape. I have a bunch of stuff I can fill it with. I am a collector of all sorts of stuff. I think a beach theme one would be cool. I have collected a bunch of that stuff over the years living here on Cape Cod.

I will thank Rachelle for here beachy themed quilt getaway items for the inspiration!

Thanks, Julie for posting those links. The video shows several projects. I really like the idea of the fairy box where she took the boxes out of the big box.

Deb, the cool thing about that clock was that she had a matching mini album inside it done where the doors are. VERY COOL!! :cool5:
