Marianne these are wonderful. I have for a long time been stuck in the A2 card size and really need to broaden my horizon. I have many different sized envelopes and your tips will be a great help. I also plan on bookmarking this. Tahnks

Forgot to add-if anyone else has easy ideas for making card bases out of scraps, feel free to post them here, too. I would love to see more ideas, too.
Re: Card Bases from Scraps
Here is the last installment for awhile. I've done about 60 cards this week so I think the card binge is over for awhile.
I found some cream envelopes in my drawer that I want to use for cards. They would hold cards about 3 1/2 x 7". So I sorted the cream/tan scraps to see what I could find to use for bases. Luckily I found a stack of roughly 5 x 7" mats. I scored them at 1 1/2" to form the back of the card. Then tried various ways to decorate the fronts-adding a 2" strip of paper both overlapping and abutting, added squares on the diagonal, leaving the edge open, cutting a zigzag, etc. By the way, 3 1 5/8" squares fit nicely on the diagonal on a 7" card. We had to dredge up algebra to work that one out!

One More-really scrappy. Same base but little scraps glued to the edge of the flap then cut flush with the back edge.

I used to use it quite a bit when I was quilting and drafting patterns all the time. A bit rusty now so I had to call on my trusty assistant-DH-so he helped.azemigh wrote:Wow Marianne! You are really on a roll with these. I have to get that algebra out for quilting all the time.

Marianne, I just stumbled onto this thread and I am awestruck and amazed. Fantastic ideas. I really need to wander around this Message Board more frequently and in more depth than I have been. You all have such wonderful and creative suggestions.
