December crop challenge #6

Post by Monica »

On the 6th day of December the Tim tag looked like this: http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2 ... tag-6.html This one is going to require some thought from me... I don't have the metal foil sheets! Any suggestions? The only metal sheetsI have on hand is tin foil... I do like the look of the distressed metal... there must be some way to duplicate that!

I used the heavy duty foil when he did the metal tags a few years ago. I also used ordinary duct tape that year for a duller and not so crisp look. It was hard to work with. This year I have the 2" wide metal foil tape and used that. It works great.

Six Geese a Laying
I pretty much followed the instructions for the background on this one except for using the foil tape. Once I painted all the flowers I did the background in white. I used Brushed Corduroy distress ink after I sanded then embossed in clear.

Marianne, I love the 6 geese a-laying tag... and the background looks great! I think color choices definitely make the difference with this technique.

Cheryl, I love the graduated color of your background and that cute Santa ornament!

I used some of that DIY silver tape too. Mine is very thin, so I didn't peel it off the paper backing, but stuck the whole lot onto my canvas tag. Then ran it through the Cuttlebug. Then painted it with green acrylic and rubbed some gold powder in. I sanded it a bit, and dripped on some alcohol inks.

That is such a pretty ornament folder, Cheryl, and I like the rainbow of colors. Did you emboss it? I can't tell from here.

I keep pulling out that bird folder, too, Kathryn, and want to use it somewhere. I like the sanded off bits with the green.

Kathryn I love the green and gold on your tag. Also love those rosettes. They are so very much fun to make once you get the knack of it.

Marianne My cuttlebug background is done with Stampin' Up!'s Shimmery card stock so it has a sparkle to it. I may have sprayed it with Glimmer mist also.

Cheryl, you're so right about there being a knack to making those rosettes! My little ones were really fiddly, I want to try some bigger ones like yours with something decorative in the centres.
