My tag #4 - I'm just the cutest thing!
My tag #4 - I'm just the cutest thing!
I have to admit that I was feeling a little dubious about this concept, but I really enjoyed putting this together. I took a pix of me as a kid and copied it onto regular paper (I don't have a photo printer or know how to print at home). I glued it to some highly textured paper and then glued that to a tag. Added lots of vintage photo and black soot ink to the paper to make the texture pop out and make it look like canvas. I also added antique linen to the picture to tone down the white. My daughter's dymo label maker only has colored tape, so I chose green. Stamped a club scrap stamp (from the Private Eye kit) onto mica to subsitute for the film strip and adhered with brads. Added an S (for Santa) and a red striped paperclip to the ribbon for balance. At the bottom, used the flowers I could find, stapled a stamp combination calendar to the bottom and added a number plus a metal title for balance. As Tim says, it's in the details. I think I added as many elements as Tim did, but they're just different and more me!

Wonderful Rinda! And thanks for the mica idea. That worked really well!

You and that tag are indeed quite cute! I have the same idea for this tag. Rather than using a vintage photo I am going to use a B&W photo of DS & myself with Santa. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great job Rinda! I was excited to see what you came up with - it's beautiful!
I didn't get to play last night. We went furniture shopping and then DH planted himself in front of the computer (the one attached to the scanner & photo printer). I couldn't complain since he bought me a new buffet for the dining room for Christmas!

Rinda, I love what you did with your tag. My photo will be on photo paper, and I was scratching my head to figure out how to get some texture in there, but it is shorter than a tag, so I just might do the same thing, and let some of the textured paper be up top like yours. It really does add interest, and it doesn't look bare up top at all.
And how cute you are! Your tag came out great!

Rinda, your tag is fantastic. All of your elements came together so well.
Dymo label tip: when you don't want to use the plastic strips you can cut a long strip of paper and insert it into the labeler and have a custom label in any color you wish. It looks really great and then you can also distress it as well.
