Thank you very much! In this case I just followed the sketch, Jenni. But I have often done a colorblocked background on a page and then reversed it on the other page since I mainly work in double page layouts. It makes it more interesting, breaks up busy patterned paper and means fewer scraps-usually.Jenni Benni wrote:Very nicely done Marianne. I like how you used brown and blue as your base. I rarely use two different colors as a base.

I have to say that I really don't like working with sketches as a rule, but you're all rocking this challenge. I may have to change my mind about them!
Re: February 2012 Monthly Scrapbook Challenge
Marianne - I love it!
This is a great sketch, isn't it?

When I saw the Challenge sketch I thought it would be perfect for these "ducks and geese" photos. The area of France where we were staying is famous for its ducks and foie gras. Every shop had a different logo or sign out-side.

Re: February 2012 Monthly Scrapbook Challenge
Marianne, great job. On the first page what is that stuff that looks like it's in bundles? I hope we get to see some of these places!
Re: February 2012 Monthly Scrapbook Challenge
Kathryn, love your ducks! Those logos are really cool.

Thanks, Deb. Not sure what you mean but from top left to bottom right around the big photo are:Debbie J wrote:Marianne, great job. On the first page what is that stuff that looks like it's in bundles? I hope we get to see some of these places!
two big jars of cream, long dried sausages, various goat cheeses, round melons and last, pepper covered dried sausages.
On the right page are from top left: various veggies, local cheeses called tomme, white asparagus with green in the background, a rabbit in a box, large rustic breads-no wimpy baguettes in this area, then various veggies and a lady trudging home with all her purchases.
Hope that helps.
Where are you going on your trip?
Re: February 2012 Monthly Scrapbook Challenge
I really like all the duck and goose signs, too. Signs are so interesting and different in other countries.
Re: February 2012 Monthly Scrapbook Challenge
We have 6 days in Paris and then we board the boat in Lyon and end up in Marseilles. We have 7 days on the boat and don't know all the stops we will be making for sure.

Wow Christy!! Another great layout!! Ry looks like she is having a blast too.
Re: February 2012 Monthly Scrapbook Challenge
I like that, Christy! It's great to see so much participation in this challenge so we can see all the different interpretations of the sketch.
And, Deb, those are a dried salami type pork sausage. You can have your choice of the Herbs de Provence or the pepper covered ones. They are 6.10 euros each. How many would you like?
Maybe at one of the stops on the boat you will come across a weekly market like this one. So many times we have walked through this type of market and can't really buy much except some lunch stuff while traveling. Doing the house exchange last year, we could finally buy all we wanted at the weekly markets.
We have driven most of that route along the Rhone where your boat will go. It should be a lot nicer on the boat than driving it on the big roads. We tried to stay on smaller roads and had a nice picnic lunch by the river on this trip I'm scrapping now from 2008.
