Scrapbooking Challenge January 2013--WINNER
Re: Scrapbooking Challenge January 2013
I have been trying to keep up with these posts, but it was hard. They are all sooooo great! I could never have commented on all of them seperately. Wonderful job ladies
Here is my entry, but I didn't keep up with the mono theme.
Santa looks kind of spooky, but I made him out of a clay mold. Good excuse, huh?

Re: Scrapbooking Challenge January 2013
I don't think he looks spooky. You did a great job. How big is he?
You can use any colors for this challenge, Paula, the monochromatic is for the lottery.

Very nice, Paula! Not creepy at all. Guess you've never seen a really creepy Santa. I think that one from CS a few years back was creepy.
Could someone please knock me up the side of the head with a 2x4?
I have been laboring over this sketch all month. I am totally blocked. I KNOW it's because it's a one photo layout and I only do two-pagers. What should I do? Just give up or what??? Hellllp!!!
On the bright side, I have managed to finish the CS Sketch Relay. Not posted yet.

I prefer the two-pagers myself Jen. It's because I'm a chronological scrapper, and when you throw a single pager in the mix, it throws off the whole sequence.
But every so often there will be that one single photo. And I usually have a terrible time with those, but as soon as this sketch was posted, I knew that I had to go through the list of to-do photos, and find one of those singletons. I'll deal with the chronological ordering later.
Another thought - do you have any collection of photos where there's one main focal photo, and then 3-4 supporting photos? You could do the focal photo as the sketch layout, and then do a facing page with the rest of the photos and some journaling.
Good luck! I'm just now getting back into paper scrapping and I hope to use these challenges to keep me going.

Jen...turn it into a 2 pager. Flip the sketch and use as the second page so they kind of mirror each other. (know what I mean?)
Paula very cool both Santa and the page

Paula, I like the Santa.
Marianne, great interpretation using a stencil. Wouldn't have thought of that.
Jen, I think Julie and Christy both had great ideas. I've done the one Julie suggested before.
Loving all these layouts. It's so god to see how everyone interprets them differently.

Wow, I thought Santa was a lot bigger than that, Paula. He looks very imposing!
Jen, I have often used a one photo layout as half of a double pager. On the other side just use the same papers and embellies and add the rest of the photos. It will all tie together. I like to use several square or small rectangular photos on that opposing page.

Re: Scrapbooking Challenge January 2013
I'm so darned aggravated. Finally found a photo to use for this challenge. Went to Bonnie's and found the perfect doilies for the page - a beautiful antique cream in exactly the right size. Came home and started to work on it and the doilies have disappeared. Only 2 of us have been in this room - me and the cat. I didn't put them in an odd place so that leaves the cat. Soon only one of us will be left if this mess keeps up, so if the cat posts - you'll know he won.
Now I've got to find something to substitute for the %#$@^& doilies.
