Journal for Single Pages
Journal for Single Pages
Last week I posted a message in General Chat for suggestions about joining single pages into folios. This is what I did.
I had saved my Anne Taintor calendar from last year hoping I would find a good use for it some day. They are too funny to throw away so that was going to be my covers.
For the signatures, I matched the single pages up and taped or glued strips of paper across them to make folios. Then I also added regular folios and a few more pages from the calendar to make 5 signatures each with about 4 folios. The covers were cut big enough to cover all the odd sized pages inside.
I did a spine of cotton fabric and stabilizer then worked out a sort of 50s style sewing design. Before I worked out how to actually stitch the thing, I punched all the holes in the spine. Bad idea! The first stitching part went ok but I couldn't figure out how to do the second half of the design so there were some holes leftover. Hence the opportunity for bead embellishment!

Here are some of the signatures. Most of the stuff in it, you have all seen before.

Inside Back Cover and Back Cover
As I find embellies, I will add them to the covers like I did the cocktail glasses on the washing machine on inside front cover. Hope you get a chuckle out of all of this!

Love the calendar pages, I'll have to keep an
eye out for them.
Nicely done on the book, I was wondering
what you had decided to do
eye out for them.

That turned out great and I really like how you did the spine.

Your journal turned out really great. I love the calendar pages. Are the quotes on the original or did you add those? Some are so funny.
Re: Journal for Single Pages

What they all said! Perfect job with those beads. That is going to be fun to watch - make sure you let us see it as you're going along.

The quotes were on the original pages. She makes a lot of products using the 50s women and the witty quotes.clamscrapper wrote:Your journal turned out really great. I love the calendar pages. Are the quotes on the original or did you add those? Some are so funny.

The funny thing is I recognize some of that stuff in the kitchens that my Mom had. The pots with the copper bases and that floor on the "Laid" page looks like the original floor in the NJ house kitchen.
