Poppies challenge! Lucky Winner announcement added!
Re: Poppies challenge! last date to enter is 4/25
You all talked me into trying this. I'm working on my poppie piece right now. I don't draw and I don't paint, but I'm having fun and no matter how it turns out, I will post a pic when I finish.

This was so much fun, especially to see how it evolved when I actually stopped thinking about what I was doing and just let the paint brush go
.
It can't compare to all the other pieces posted here, but I have to admit that it turned out better than I expected, although it is absolutely nothing like the picture I had in my head. And, if you didn't know that they were supposed to be poppies, they could probably pass for tulips or mutant roses

Beautiful work Sue, looks like a poppy field to me.
Re: Poppies challenge! last date to enter is 4/25
Way to go, Sue, a whole field of poppies

Re: Poppies challenge! last date to enter is 4/25
Uber nice! Looks like poppies to me too! Keep up the good work

Re: Poppies challenge! last date to enter is 4/25
yay!!! I'm so proud of you!
Who else is going to take the challenge? While riding home from the flea market, I thought of something I want to try. Going to throw some chicken on the grill and then come in to work on it...
Much later in the day now but it's done! (although I might do a bit more to the background later) DH says its "sappy".
I used Santa Baby Glimmer Mist on white crepe paper to make 4 petals, velvet ribbon for the stem and a piece of handmade paper scrap sprayed with Lily Pad Glimmer Mist and shaded with Portfolio Oil Pastels. The background is a combination of techniques I've learned from Donna Downey and Christy Tomlinson. Crap photo - maybe I can scan it when it dries.

Wow again........you all have done some great "poppies".........another thread I'm going to bookmark and return to for inspiration.
Paula and Rachelle knew that I said at the first of the year - I wasn't going to get into any swaps for a while.......I just have way too much to do here right now and I'm hoping that by fall, I'll be ready to join in some swaps - and challenges - these have all been great

Here's my attempt for the World wide Poppy challenge
6 x 6 canvas, gessoed, spayed with
Memory Mists Mango Lemonade and
Blue Martini for background colors,
then acrylics to create the poppies
I guess we can call it "Poppies In the Primative Style"
(very primative) LOL

Beautiful Sue,Pam and Elizabeth. Poppies are all the rage. just love them all!
Re: Poppies challenge! last date to enter is 4/25
Elizabeth, I really like the translucent green leaves on the yellow background and the green spray drops behind them.
Pam, that is so delicate. I like the touches of black in the background with the pink.
I want to do some more!

I really like them all. So cool to see how these poppies have evolved. The colors, the sizes, all of it. Fun to look it.

Yay Elizabeth! Thanks for playing!
LOL - I had to look at mine to find the "pink". That photo is so flash-burned (even though I didn't use a flash). I seriously need to scan it... Much better!
