Despite being more productive in the first half of this year than I have in a decade, it all came grinding to a halt when I went back to work and I hadn't made a thing in over 5 months. So this week I chased down my Muse and coaxed her into making some easy gift tags. The first ones are alcohol ink backgrounds on Yupo paper; if you look closely you can see the silver 'veining' I added on the pink/red ones. That's done by pressing foil onto the slightly tacky alcohol ink, which will stick in places.
The second set are done by watercolour stamping - the first stamping technique I ever learned, even before I started scrapping. You apply colour with markers to your stamp, then give it a very light spritz with water before stamping it. I learned a new trick with this technique from a video this week; if you've used a stamp positioner, without adding any more ink or water you press your stamp down a second time; the additional ink/water on the stamp adds depth to the watercoloured look, especially if you've stamped onto watercolour paper. These are made with the Tim Holtz Winter Watercolor stamp set and Distress Markers; I regret that they've discontinued those.
My backgrounds are leftover pieces of gift wrap I stamped/painted last year.

Re: Christmas tags
Those are beautiful, Keitha!
Good tip about using the stamp positioner to get a second pressing especially on bumpy watercolor paper.

Re: Christmas tags
They’re beautiful and I hope to remember that tip about double stamping.
