Finished Pieces from my Play Day (2 new necklaces posted)

Post by azemigh »

Here is the first finished piece from my play day with Brianna (my son's girlfriend). These beads were fun to make. Started with a dampened blob of cotton about a half inch in diameter and then wrapped polymer clay snakes around like vines; added leaves and flowers, then painted with Perfect Pearls; after baking I pulled the cotton out with sharp tweezers. I strung 3 of the beads on black hemp with some faceted beads and knots in between.

I love that idea of wrapping the clay around a form that gets removed later. The beads look great.

Thank you all so much for your kind words! I played some more with my filigree beads yesterday and made 2 more necklaces and 2 pairs of matching earrings with the beads I made.

The first one I did lilies and lilypads on the bead instead of flowers and leaves. I only made one of these beads and really liked how it turned out so may make more. I think I'm going to give this to my mom--she loves water lilies.

And here is the second one in a gold and red color scheme. I'm out of gold clasps so I'll either have to make one or pick some up at Michaels the next time I'm there, so it's not quite finished.

When I make some more beads I will take some pics along the way and put together a little tutorial on how the beads are made to post on the forum. The beads for the purple and green color scheme were made with black polymer clay and this one from white. I also made the long tube beads from white clay torn into a triangle shape and then rolled onto a skewer.
