Gamasol and a paper stump are used to blend the colors. My coloring on the girl isn't so hot, the paper was heavily textured, making it difficult. It's wonderful fun though to color images in this way. If you've had problems using colored pencils, this is a great technique to try.

Edited to add: Gamasol is a solvent

Good tutorial...

The only thing I would add is to use a few different shades in your work. IE: Maybe a lighter color red as in the umbrella, and a grey, under the darker red.

What a beautiful card - I bought some gamasol before christmas and am anxious to try it - I haven't had much luck with my watercolor crayons.... :creating:

Great card......I don't have gamsol, but have used the stumps and mineral oil ( I think that's what I was told I could use instead of gamsol) in the past......

I hunted high and low for Gamsol - no one even knew what it was when I asked in stores.

I found "Dove" blender which I have used. Got it at Archivers when I visiting in Indiana one time. It says you can use it with waterbased markers, colored pencils, chalks, dye pads and pigment pads. I've used it with the chalks, water color pencils and plain colored pencils and it does a nice blending job. haven't tried the inks yet though.

BTW - I love your card - wouldn't guess that you had a hard time coloring in the image, it's beautiful.
