Re: Spin Art Cards
Ok had my son buy one for me for Christmas. Now...do you think he will notice if it is used before he wraps?
Re: Spin Art Cards
okay - first off the machine is addictive, you can just keep making stuff all afternoon!
Here are a few cards I got put together this evening, and I have many more pieces of Spin Art to work with still!

Those are so cool! The one with the face is my absolute favorite. I really need to get out my spin art machine & play!

These are really lovely!!dehlers43 wrote:Julie - here's what I do when working on paper:jfugina wrote:Awesome Diane! What I want to know is, how in the world did you get such and even splatter all the way around???? Every time I try, I wind up with like quadrants of blobs. Not completely unusable, but I'd love to know how to get an even circle of splatter, if there is in fact a technique there.
Spray with water or glimmer mist
While paper is still wet, add the alcohol ink - be generous! I also like dropping the alcohol ink in the exact center of the paper.
At this point I usually stop the spin and look at the design. If I like it, I spin again and add another alcohol ink color.
Stop and again and look at the pattern. Sometimes I stop here if I like what I see.
If the alcohol ink is too blobby I try adding the blending solution. Usually that will help the ink to spread.
If I want to add another layer of something, at this point I'll spray again with water or glimmer mist then spritz on memory mist. I absolutely love the white memory mist!
When working on transparencies I usually don't use any water base stuff until the very end.
Now, go spin!
What kind of cardstock do you use for this please? Is it something special?
Would love to know!

Re: Spin Art Cards
Alcohol inks work really well on the "frost" CS paper from Asian Artisan and Time & Space. They also look good on transparencies but the technique is different. Basically any paper with a slick, less porous surface.Wezz wrote: These are really lovely!!

Last night I played a bit with stencils and vasaline. One turned out pretty nice but I can't say the same for the other "experiment".....LOL
I had purchased Lumiere paints thinking they would be fun to spin but found out they were designed not to spread... I tried diluting the paint in water then spraying. I need to tweak this technique a bit more....going to try some other types of paper...stay tuned......
