A really cool surprise!

Post by azemigh »

We decided to head for the beach today. Not really windy and some sunshine so we took a chance and OH MY! We get to the beach and there is a whole pod of whales just beyond the breakers putting on a show. We don't know if they were humpbacks or sperm whales, but they were a sight to see. We stood mesmerized for almost 2 hours. I really couldn't see them through my camera so I just zoomed in on the spot where they were and then waited till I could see the spout spray to click. I ended up getting about 6 good pics!

Cool. Did you see the new CS digi kit? I thought about you as soon as I saw the name of it.

Aren't they mesmerizing? We used to go whale watching when we lived in San Diego.
Beautiful layout!

I would have been totally in awe! I have dreams that whales are right off the beach here on Cape Cod. That I can just jump in the water and swim with them. Such amazing creatures!! Thanks for sharing Rachelle!

If you mean the new Lodge kit, yep! Got that one the second it became available. Planning on scrapping the backpacking trip on it! ;)

What a great layout and a great surprise! We've been out on whale watching tours out of Boston Harbor a couple of times, but not since the kids were born. It's a fantastic sight (assuming you survive the motion sickness of the high speed catamaran).

How cool! Whales are just the neatest animals to watch.

They are tough to photograph, but so much fun to watch. I think I shot 3 rolls of film on our whale watching trip in Juneau. Got one or two good shots, a few OK, but a lot of wasted film. You're lucky to be shooting digi, Rachelle.
