to me it means anytime you add something to paper, canvas or an object

To me, it means a hodge podge of anything you want to throw on it. Maybe even the kitchen sink. Or debris in the sink anyway.

Using more than one medium on a project - ink and paint or modeling paste and spray inks.

Thank you, ladies! Anyone else?
My current mixed media thoughts revolve around the Julie Nutting doll stamps and her style of creating.... which will last until I either get tired of those stamps or something else sparked my interest! I'm thinking of doing a couple She Art pieces using them. Also using different mediums and colors.... and if I ever get brave enough, I want to try my hand at creating a mini canvas ala Finnabair. That woman is so fabulously creative!

Using ink and paint first comes to mind. But really two or more agents that can cover or alter a canvas of some kind to me is mixed media. Inks, sprays, paints, gesso, glues...you get the idea.

I think of it as a base layer of some of the usual suspects like paint, spray, gesso, etc. but then on top there is a dimensional surprise element like metal or wood or fabric, lace, plastic, etc.
