2015 June Card Sketch and Color Swatch Challenge
2015 June Card Sketch and Color Swatch Challenge
COLORFUL REPEATING PATTERNS!
I thought we ought to spice up this month's sketch challenge by also adding a color challenge. So first here is the sketch challenge followed in the next post of the color portion. I do wish we could add more than 3 photos per post.
I wanted to play with repeating shapes such as these rounded diamonds. Any shape you might have is good for this. Nested die shapes could be used for a layering effect. The center of each shape could either have stamped images or just patterned paper. Doodads like enamel dots, sequins and buttons make a nice embellishment for this card. Sentiments can be stamped or die cut.
And then there's the color portion. I picked 3 color swatches that appealed to me. One being more of a red, white and blue combo in case you're planning some July 4th cards. For my first card I chose the RW&B combo. I love those two blues and the not so red, red. I plan on trying out the other two color swatches as well.
Have fun with this.
PS...that's supposed to be sentiment not stentiment. I was a little sleepy finishing this last night.

And here are the 3 color challenges. You needn't use all colors within a swatch. Pick at least 3 so we can tell what color group you are using.

Well, aren't you Johnny on the spot?
And I was just coming on to warn that the layout sketch might be late.
I like this sketch a lot. Love repeating shapes. This will be fun.

Nice challenge Farley! I'm not a cardmaker, but I might work with one of your colour palettes for a scrapbook page.

Love those color palettes.
I have a plan to create a kit from my stash using one...after we get home...and after I submit my homework.

A great idea Pam.
Hmmm....maybe we should start a monthly color swatch thread to inspire us to make LOs, kits, cards and other projects?

During summer camp maybe or when Monica posted challenges? And where is Monica?

Oh Farley, you sneaked that cool card in on me. I didn't even see it. Very nice. Working on mine right now.

Okay. At Nancy's urging, I am coloring for for five minutes a day. I also dug out these ancient SU stamps yesterday because I had an urge to finally get them inky. 2003 is the date on them and they were clean as a whistle. UYS and NBUS. So I love this sketch and hope to make more for it. This was obviously done very quickly. Paper is also from SU. Thanks for looking.

Oh Jen this is SO cute! Great coloring and I love that wavy paper for the background. I also recognized that card to be yours over on Daily Marker. Yay! Thank for playing.

Jen - an adorable card! The colors are just perfect. Did you intend for the enamel dots to make us think of bubbles - or is it just me?
