Love the weather....
Love the weather....
So... I'll take water over fire any day!! But whoever sent us this northeast wind from some front needs a good speaking to... This is the highway just north of our village. Yep... it takes a beating anytime there's heavy surf and northeast winds.. so this was expected. I'll be working from home for a few days.. LOL

God bless the NC DOT.
Enjoy the solitude and opportunities to do what you want for you during your work breaks!

We have several means of contact with work... so there probably won't be much solitude... LOL
But my commute is lovely when I'm working from home... although, I really did need to stop at the grocery store at some point... not gonna happen til the roads are clear, though.

Dang! Stay safe and I suppose Mike is out in the middle of all this?
Re: Love the weather....
Good grief Debi! Hard to believe that is a highway! I hope this wind has now died down and you and your home are safe.
And speaking of fires, I was just catching up on the current Northern CA fires and it is just devastating the acreage, structures and entire towns that are just gone. The fire closest to me, the LNU Lightning Complex, thankfully is now 98% contained as are a few others. However many of the other fires are still raging. After a few days of better air we were back in the unhealthy category yesterday and today.

Re: Love the weather....
it's so sad to know all those homes and towns are destroyed... and all that forest land, too...
I'm glad I visited out west a couple decades ago... visited some folks up in Oregon.. along the coast.. and then we went inland and got to see some of the redwoods. Hate to think of those ancient trees being threatened by fire.
As for flooding... hopefully it will subside today and our DOT workers will be able to clear the highways again... and then they'll start their winter project of relocating the sand for the dunes... from the west side of the highway back to the east side... going to be an interesting winter again...
There's some great drone footage of the impacted areas on the island... out on Facebook.. look for Altitude 12 and he's got several videos posted. The Rodanthe one shows the northern end of the villages... the water is deeper up by the inlet about 15 miles north of us... so crews will have a busy day ahead of them... possibly into tomorrow

Re: Love the weather....
Those fires are so terrible. Can’t even begin to imagine. Too bad Outer Banks couldn’t share some of their water

Glad it was just ocean overwash. Sucks to lose lots of dune line. Will be an interesting winter with any nor'easters.
The hwy opened back up today. Still some ocean water out there so I'm working from home again tomorrow.

Debbie I was so happy and in awe of the news account of rescuing that 3 year old girl and what was involved in getting her to the hospital in time. Mike and his crew are the best!
