Grinch Quilt and the story behind it!
Grinch Quilt and the story behind it!
As I promised in the week end thread, I would post my grinch quilt and the story involving my oldest boy when he was 8 (now 24) and my youngest when he was 4 (now 20). The 8 year old decided that he knew, just knew, that mom and dad were really Santa Claus that year and after many a talk with him about not ruining it for his brother and that there might be dire consequences if he did, he just couldn't resist telling him. So, big brother got a little surprise on Christmas morning when all of the presents under the tree were addressed to his little brother and all he got was a note from Santa. There were green footprints leading to and from the tree and the note said that the Grinch had gotten wind of how he didn't believe in Santa so the Grinch decided to hide all of Paul's presents. Santa told Paul that only if he performed a good deed for every person in the house that day, would he receive a clue as to where his presents might be.
You should have seen the tantrum that boy threw. We actually got it on video, but no one thought to take stills. Will, gleefully, ran around the room during all this, shouting, I told you so at the top of his lungs. My dad, made him vacuum the entire house (3 storeys) for his good deed and you know, we never heard another word about Santa, ever again. And, you would think he would hate the Grinch, but he is Paul's absolute favorite holiday character and so when the grinch fabric showed up this year, I just had to make this for him.

That is a wonderful story and what a fun gift. I love the fact that you followed through on the 'dire consequences' and that he learned a valuable lesson.
